I can’t say how much less comfortable we’ll get than 10km. We also decided to cut some corners on this one (our trains are not owned by us, but run by a local rail company) as this seems to be more than enough for them. There’s no staff, no wi-fi, no heating, and no toilets. The only thing we have to ourselves are our (crowded) sleeping cars, and the passengers in the toilets to pass the time. In fact there are reports of one toilet, which was built as a refuge, being used for shelter by families trying to keep their own little (crowded) space. There’s also one toilet for women, and one for men.

I think I’m going to have to print out a map of the stations and plan each trip on it. A map of the trains doesn’t seem possible, and I don’t think even the attendants know what trains stop at which platform.
Overall I think the trip is going really well, but the lack of facilities and the expense of living in the train makes it a little more challenging than we’re used to. Not that we have much choice, but this is also the first time we’ve travelled by train with a baby. I’ve been in all sorts of trains before, but I always travelled with a mate, and/
